TC Late Nominations Close March 26
The late nomination phase for the spring classic races that make up the coveted Triple Crown – the $2 million guaranteed Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) at Churchill Downs, the $1 million Preakness (gr. I) at Pimlico, and the $1 million Belmont Stakes (gr. I) at Belmont Park – will close at midnight (EDT) on Saturday, March 26. The cost to nominate a 3-year-old to the Triple Crown races in the late nomination stage is $6,000 per horse. Early nominations to the Triple Crown closed on Saturday, Jan. 22 with 364 3-year-old Thoroughbreds – headed by unbeaten juvenile champion Uncle Mo – made eligible to compete in the three-race series. Early Triple Crown nominations required a fee of $600.
