The late nomination phase for the spring classic races that make up the coveted Triple Crown – the $2 million guaranteed Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) at Churchill Downs, the $1 million Preakness (gr. I) at Pimlico, and the $1 million Belmont Stakes (gr. I) at Belmont Park – will close at midnight (EDT) on Saturday, March 26.

The cost to nominate a 3-year-old to the Triple Crown races in the late nomination stage is $6,000 per horse.  Early nominations to the Triple Crown closed on Saturday, Jan. 22 with 364 3-year-old Thoroughbreds – headed by unbeaten juvenile champion Uncle Mo   – made eligible to compete in the three-race series. Early Triple Crown nominations required a fee of $600.
 
Trainers and owners who wish to make their horses eligible in the late nomination phase can do so online at www.thetriplecrown.com, or by contacting the racing offices at the three Triple Crown tracks.
