Brereton C. Jones announced that he has purchased a three-quarter interest in recently retired grade I winner Yankee Victor and that the 4-year-old ridgling will enter stud for a fee of $15,000 at Airdrie Stud near Midway, Ky. The son of Saint Ballado arrived yesterday at the farm. Jones owns Yankee Victor with the Taylor family's Taylor Made Farm, which owned an interest in the son of Saint Ballado when he raced. It was decided to stand Yankee Victor at Airdrie rather than at Taylor Made near Nicholasville, Ky., because Jones is the majority owner.

Yankee Victor, who was produced from the Caro mare Highest Carol, scored his major win in the Metropolitan Handicap (gr. I) and also won the Westchester (gr. III) and Hanshin (gr. III) Handicaps during a four-race win streak from April through June. Bred by Dr. R.G. Lundock, he won nine of 19 races and earned $893,806 in three years of racing.
