The connections for longshots Dreaminofthewin and Glint have informed Oaklawn Park officials March 18 they intend to scratch out of Saturday's $300,000 Rebel Stakes (gr. II).

Trainer C.R. Trout had already filed a scratch card for Dreaminofthewin, runner-up in the Smarty Jones Stakes Jan. 17 for owner Clint Gilchrist. The son of Successful Appeal   has fought a foot problem throughout the winter and Trout wasn’t happy with how the colt got over the track Friday.
“We put on a different shoe and he just wasn’t comfortable this morning,” said Trout. “With the big field and the foot not 100 percent, we didn't want to take a chance. It's a long year.”
Glint, coming off a third-place finish in the Mountain Valley Stakes March 5 in his first start as a 3-year-old, drew post 11 in the original field of 13, and that combined with other factors to make trainer Kellyn Gorder look elsewhere.
“With what happened with the draw and the big field, it looked, to me, like about as tough a prep race as I've seen,” said Gorder.
Even with the scratches, a field of 11 in scheduled to go in the Rebel, including morning-line favorite The Factor  .
Both Trout and Gorder will be in action in the co-featured $150,000 Azeri Stakes (gr. III) with up-and-coming fillies and mares.
Trout will saddle Shotgun Gulch, an Oklahoma-bred daughter of Thunder Gulch   he owns and bred. Gorder sends out Kimber Lily for World Thoroughbred Racing after winning her third straight start in a tune-up allowance here Feb. 21.
