What is believed to be the only foal outside Japan by two-time Emirates Airline Breeders’ Cup Turf (gr. IT) winner Conduit was delivered Feb. 24 at Catesby Clay’s Runnymede Farm near Paris, Ky. Josette was bred to Conduit in his first season at stud.
The filly, out of Irish-bred Josette (by Danehill), is owned by Runnymede in partnership with Peter Callahan.
“She is a very attractive, well-conformed bundle of energy who bears a strong resemblance to her sire,” said Runnymede vice president and general manager Martin O’Dowd of the filly, who is marked with a distinctive stripe and one white sock. “She is one of a kind, and we have high expectations.”
Conduit, who stands at Shigeyuki Okada’s Big Red Farm on the island of Hokkaido in Japan, also won the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II Stakes (Eng-I) and the classic St. Leger Stakes (Eng-I). Conduit (Dalakhani—Well Head, by Sadler’s Wells) was voted North America’s 2008 champion turf male and was a three-time highweight in England.
