Penn National Racing Secretary Retires

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course announced that Paul Jenkins, racing secretary since December 1999, will retire effective April 3. There will be no live racing at the Bensalem, Pennsylvania track from March 27 through April 3.

“I’ve been planning this for some time, and with our spring shutdown starting next weekend, it’s a good time to wrap things up,” said the native of Peckville, Pennsylvania.

Jenkins and his wife Winnie have already moved from Central Pennsylvania to a new home upstate in the Wilkes-Barre area and plan to spend more time with their daughters Lindsay and Leslie, and son Brian.

After owning and operating nurseries and garden centers in the Philadelphia area, Jenkins got his first job as a stable hand at old Liberty Bell Park. He was an owner and assistant trainer before moving into the racing office.

Prior to joining Penn National, Jenkins served as a racing secretary at Keystone Race Track, Garden State Park, River Downs, Ellis Park, and Philadelphia Park.
