Jockey Francisco Torres, who had six winners during the Oaklawn Park meet, reported March 13 that he has two broken ribs and will be out of action for the remainder of the stand.

The 41-year-old rider was injured when a horse reared in the starting gate. He said he rode through the pain for several days before getting checked out March 12. Doctors say he should be out of the saddle for 2 ½ weeks.

Torres said he plans to return home to Indiana to recover and will remain there to gear up for meets there and in Kentucky.
