Skimming's Breeders' Cup chances rest with his performance in the Goodwood on Sunday.
Two-time Pacific Classic winner Skimming must win Sunday's $500,000 Goodwood Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. II) at Oak Tree at Santa Anita in order to move on to the Breeders' Cup Classic at Belmont Park on Oct. 27, trainer Bobby Frankel said from New York Wednesday morning.

"He would definitely have to win it to go in the Breeders' Cup," the Hall of Fame trainer said of the 5-year-old Juddmonte Farms' speedster, who has not run since winning the Grade I Pacific Classic at Del Mar by 5 1/2 lengths on Aug. 19.

Skimming worked six furlongs Sunday at Hollywood Park in 1:13 3/5.

Frankel is expected to remain in New York through Breeders' Cup day, on which he could have as many as seven starters in a bid to capture his first Breeders' Cup race. Frankel is winless in 36 previous tries.
