Jersey Rebel Wins Wednesday Feature at Oak Tree

Jersey Rebel overcame a slow start and earned a one-length victory Wednesday in the $42,000 allowance feature for California-breds at Oak Tree.
Ridden by Garrett Gomez at 116 pounds, Jersey Rebel ran 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:16.24 and paid $7.80, $3.60 and $3. Kathy Walsh is the trainer for Sid Belzberg of Richmond, British Columbia.
Disturbingthepeace, the favorite ridden by Laffit Pincay Jr. at 118 pounds, finished second and returned $4 and $3. Big Team Spirit, Alex Solis up at 120 pounds, finished third and paid $3.40.
Crescendo, the early leader, faded to finish fourth, and was followed by Count V Ullman, Bettor Royalty, Bin Dere Did Dat and Juan Gordito. Painted Avenue was scratched earlier in the day.
A 3-year-old by In Excess, Jersey Rebel has a 3-1-0 record from five starts. The $25,200 winner's share increased the gelding's earnings to $63,220.
Gomez rode two winners on the card, both trained by Walsh.
