The Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association will conduct a Thoroughbred Racehorse Ownership Seminar March 23 at Portland Meadows in Portland, Ore.

The seminar, sponsored by Blood-Horse Publications, will feature discussions on business topics pertaining to racehorse ownership including insurance and tax issues; options for acquiring horses including partnerships, public auction and claiming; as well as a discussion about veterinary topics. The seminar will also feature a discussion with a Thoroughbred trainer and current owner.

The seminar will begin at 8 a.m. and will include breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon of racing at Portland Meadows. The registration fee for the clinic is $56.25 for TOBA members and $100 for non-members. The TOBA member rate reflects a significantly discounted rate in honor of the 50th anniversary of the organization. Throughout 2011 TOBA will extend discounted rates on seminars and clinics to its members.

TOBA’s next educational event is a Racehorse Ownership Seminar on May 5 at the Kentucky Derby Museum in Louisville. For a complete list of TOBA seminars and clinics visit www.toba.org or for more information, contact Erin Crady at 859-276-2291 or ecrady@toba.org.
