Todd Pletcher-trained More Than Ready and Impeachment were on the track at Monmouth Park Tuesday morning as they worked toward Sunday's $1-million Haskell Invitational Handicap (gr. I). With the track labeled sloppy, the pair went five furlongs in 1:03 while working together. Pletcher's assistant, George Weaver, said the works were fine and that both horses were ready for the 1 1/8-mile test. Also working toward the Haskell at Monmouth was Mercaldo, the John Forbes trainee who was clocked in 1:01 2/5 for five furlongs. At nearby Bowie, Thistyranthasclass went seven furlongs in 1:27 4/5 over a track labeled good.

Two Haskell contenders worked over a fast track at Del Mar, with Swaps Stakes winner Captain Steve getting five furlongs in :59 1/5 and Dixie Union going the same route in :59 2/5.

In Canada, Kiss a Native breezed four furlongs in :47 1/5, the fastest time of the day at the distance at Woodbine.

Others likely for the Haskell include Milwaukee Brew and Commendable.
