Jockey Eibar Coa, who suffered a broken C-4 vertebra in a spill following a race Feb. 18 at Gulfstream Park, remains at Memorial Regional Hospital where he has started to undergo therapy and rehabilitation.
According to family spokesperson Tito Fuentes, Coa’s agent, the injured jockey underwent a second surgery March 2 on the wrist he broke in the spill. Fuentes said Coa continues to have movement in his hands and feet, and continues to have feeling throughout out his body.
“Therapy and rehabilitation have been going well,” Fuentes said. “He had another surgery on his wrist today so we’re waiting to see how he comes out of that right now.”
