Presvis will attempt to defend his title when he takes on 11 challengers in the $250,000 Jebel Hatta Sponsored by Emirates Airline (UAE-IIT) March 3 at Meydan Racecourse. The nine furlong turf contest is a key prep race for the Dubai Duty Free (UAE-IT) that will be run over the same course and distance March 26.

Trained by Luca Cumani for owner Leonidas Marinopoulos, Presvis enters the Jebel Hatta off of an impressive victory in the Al Rashidiya Sponsored by Gulf News (UAE-II) Jan. 27. The 7-year-old Sakhee gelding trailed the field early in the race before weaving through rivals in the stretch and storming home to win by 4 3/4 lengths. Ryan Moore retains the mount.

Al Shemali is back on the turf for the Jebel Hatta after two subpar efforts over the Tapeta course. The 7-year-old horse upset the field at 40-1 when he took home the top honors in the 2010 Dubai Duty Free. Trained by Ali Rashid Al Raihe, the son of Medicean also finished a strong third to Lizard's Desire in the Singapore Airlines International Cup (Sin-I). Regular rider Royston Ffrench will be aboard.

Godolphin’s Poet's Voice will be making his seasonal debut in the Jebel Hatta. The 4-year-old son of Dubawi continued to improve throughout his 3-year-old campaign, with his greatest success coming when he nosed out Rip Van Winkle to capture the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes Sponsored by Sony (Eng-I). Frankie Dettori has the mount.

Other contenders in the field include Steele Tango, who finished second to Presvis in the Al Rashidiya and Le Drakkar, who was third to Derbaas in the Al Fahidi Fort Sponsored by Commercial Bank of Dubai (UAE-IIT).

$250,000 Jebel Hatta Sponsored by Emirates Airline (gr. II, race 8, 1:45 p.m. EST), 3yo (SH-bred) and up, 9 furlongs, turf. All carry 126 pounds.
