Juveniles Gear Up for Keeneland Stakes

From KeenelandSiphonic, expected to compete in Saturday's Lane's End Breeders' Futurity at Keeneland, worked six furlongs in "a shade under 1:12" Monday morning at Hollywood Park. The winner of the $400,000 Breeders' Futurity will qualify for a $250,000 bonus should he race in and win the $1-million Bessemer Trust Breeders' Cup Juvenile Oct. 27 at Belmont Park.
Amerman Racing consultant Bob Feld said Siphonic worked well on a tiring track. Both he and trainer David Hofmans clocked the colt in :59 4/5 for five furlongs."The track clocker said it was the best six-furlong work he had seen in quite a while," Feld said.
Goldolphin's Burnt Ember, a $250,000 purchase at the 2000 Keeneland September Yearling Sale, was to ship to Kentucky Tuesday for the Breeders' Futurity.
Mark Dixon's Radiant, who has raced in her native India, is scheduled to make her Kentucky debut in the $75,000 A.P. Indy Stakes at 5 1/2 furlongs on the grass Saturday. The Phillip Oliver trainee has won six of 16 career starts on the grass.
