A special memorial tribute will be held after the second race in the paddock area at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course Tuesday, March 1, to honor the memory of jockey Joseph A. Farley, who died in a one-car accident Feb. 26.
Jockeys, horsemen, and officials will gather in the saddling area to hear a brief eulogy and observe a moment of silence.
Farley, 20, was a member of a longtime racing family at Penn National. His father, James, now a trainer, was a former jockey at the Central Pennsylvania oval.
The young rider was 11th in the current jockey standings at the Grantville oval with seven wins, five seconds, and seven thirds from 54 local mounts this year. Overall he had posted 140 victories in his brief career.
