The Thoroughbred Corp.'s unbeaten 2-year-old filly Habibti was scratched from Sunday's Oak Leaf Stakes (gr. I) at Santa Anita because of a fever, according to trainer Bob Baffert.
"She coughed a couple of times this morning and we checked her temperature," Baffert said on Saturday. "At 10 o'clock it was 102 degrees, so we had no choice but to scratch. It looks like we'll have to train her right up to the Breeders' Cup."
Habibti, 2-for-2 at Del Mar, including the Del Mar Debutante (gr. I), will be one of the favorites for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) at Belmont Park on Oct. 27. The daughter of Tabasco Cat would have been the heavy favorite in Sunday's Oak Leaf.
