Churchill Downs Hires Investor Relations Director

Mike Ogburn has been hired as Churchill Downs' new director of investor relations. The Louisville, Ky., native is the primary contact for investors who want more information about the racing conglomerate.
"He brings to CDI (Churchill Downs Inc.) experience in traditional public and media relations as well as financial communications, which makes him ideally suited for this role," said Karl Schmitt, senior vice president of communications. "Additionally, Mike is a long-time fan of horse racing and possess a passion for our sport as well as an inherent understanding of our industry."
Ogburn, 39, has a bachelor's degree in American studies from the University of Notre Dame. He previously served as deputy press secretary for the City of Louisville and managed communications and media relations for Mayor David Armstrong. He also has been communications director for the Greater Louisville Inc. and was freelance writer for Internet Stock News.
Ogburn began working at Churchill Downs today and replaces Chantelle Kammerdiener who is pursuing a freelance career.
