OBS Winter Mixed Sale Starts Jan. 18

The Ocala Breeders' Sales Co. will kick off its 2011 auction year Jan. 18 with the consignor-preferred session of its winter mixed sale in Central Florida. The auction will end with an open session Jan. 19.

The consignor-preferred session originally had been scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. (EST), but the starting time will be at noon to accommodate horsemen returning from the Eclipse Awards dinner the previous night in South Florida.

“With 190 horses cataloged for the Tuesday (Jan. 18) session, we have the flexibility to adjust the schedule to accommodate our buyers and sellers,” said Tom Ventura, the OBS general manager and director of sales.

Florida Thoroughbred Charities will auction approximately 65 stallion seasons immediately following the consignor preferred session. The Jan. 19 open session will begin at 11:00 a.m. as originally scheduled.

There are 522 horses cataloged for the entire auction. The group includes 238 yearlings.
