Decisive Moment Rolls in Jean Lafitte Stakes

After finishing second to Gourmet Dinner in the $1 million Delta Downs Jackpot (gr. III), Decisive Moment returned to Louisiana to score a resounding victory in the $250,000 Jean Lafitte Stakes on Jan. 14 (VIDEO).

Under jockey Kerwin Clark, Decisive Moment set the pace in the one-mile test for 3-year-olds before facing a two-prong challenge by Su Casa G Casa and Expecting Cash at the top of the homestretch.
After looking his rivals in the eye with less than a furlong to go, the Juan Arias trainee appeared to re-break and took off to win by 3 1/2 lengths going away. Su Casa G Casa finished second while Expecting Cash was another neck behind in third.
Decisive Moment covered the mile over a fast track in 1:38.91.
The win by Decisive Moment, who is owned by Just For Fun Stable, marked the second of his six-race career. The $150,000 paycheck raised his bankroll up to $426,330.
Decisive Moment is a 3-year-old dark bay or brown colt by With Distinction, out of the Dehere mare Lady Samira. He was bred in Florida by his owner.
In other stakes activity it was Gran Lioness taking the $200,000 My Trusty Cat Stakes (VIDEO) for 3-year-old fillies under jockey Jamie Theriot for trainer Bret Calhoun, who also conditions second-place finisher Grandacious. Holy Heavens wound up third.
Gran Lioness is owned by Wayne Sanders and Larry Hirsch. She was bred in Kentucky by John T. L. Jones, Jr. & Bemak N. V.
