Emerald Downs will begin its 16th season of live racing Friday, April 15, the track announced Jan. 13.

The Washington Horse Racing Commission has approved an 82-day meeting that will run through Sunday, Sept. 25, down slightly from last year’s 90-day season, with live racing every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Thursdays will be added to the schedule in July and August, and special holiday racing will be offered Monday, May 30, Monday, July 4, and Monday, Sept. 5.

The 76th running of the Longacres Mile (gr. III) will headline the stakes schedule, to be announced later this month along with the purse structure for the 82-day season.

Post times will remain 6 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and holiday.

The track will open for training Tuesday, Feb. 8.
