Tampa Bay Downs canceled its nine-race card Jan. 6 due to technical problems that were preventing its broadcast signal from reaching simulcast outlets.

“The broadcast issues are on the track’s end,” said Margo Flynn, vice president of marketing and publicity at the Florida racetrack. “We could not see the races in our facility and could not send the signal to be simulcast out.”

All horses remaining on the Dec. 6 program will receive a special cancellation star, meaning they will get preferential treatment when re-entered in a race of similar conditions to the race cancelled. Some of the Jan. 6 races will be put up today as entries for the Jan. 9 card.

Customers who had placed wagers, purchased programs, or paid for clubhouse admission were given rain checks.

Racing is expected to resume Jan. 7 with a 10-race card. The first post at 12:25 p.m.
