Jockey Corey Nakatani took off his scheduled mounts Saturday and Sunday after he fractured his right thumb Friday at Del Mar. Nakatani suffered the injury when his mount, Vinka, fell just beyond the wire after completing the sixth race. A Del Mar press release said Nakatani is expected to be out for two weeks.
Nakatani was scheduled to ride Chilukki in the Test Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga on Saturday, but was replaced by Shane Sellers. Sunday at Del Mar, David Flores rode Chester House, Nakatani's scheduled mount, in the Eddie Read Handicap (gr. IT). Nakatani was off to a fast start at Del Mar, winning four races from his first 11 mounts.
Trainer Simon Bray said Vinka was not injured in the spill.
