Jesse Choper Reappointed to CHRB

Jesse Choper has served on the CHRB since 2006

Jesse Choper has been reappointed to the California Horse Racing Board, where he has served as a member since 2006, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger announced Dec. 21.

The appointment, which includes compensation of $100 per diem, requires California Senate confirmation.

Choper, 75, of Lafayette, Calif., has served as the Earl Warren professor of public law for Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California-Berkeley since 1991. Choper has served as a professor of law for Boalt Hall School of Law since 1965 and was dean for 10 years.

Previously, he was an associate professor of law at the University of Minnesota Law School from 1961 to 1965. He was a law clerk for the U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren from 1960 to 1961. From 1957 to 1960, he served as an Instructor at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School.

Choper has been a visiting professor at many universities during his 50-year legal career, including Harvard Law School and Fordham Law School.
