Jockey Jaime Rodriguez will be out of action for an undetermined period after sustaining a fractured clavicle when he was unseated at the start of the fourth race Dec. 17 at Aqueduct Racetrack.

Rodriguez, a 19-year-old Puerto Rican apprentice jockey, was injured when his mount, Giopi, stumbled at the start of the race.

The jockey got up immediately, walked to the ambulance, and was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where the fracture was diagnosed.

Rodriguez has won 11 races from 120 mounts at Aqueduct this year.

Giopi, a 3-year-old gelding trained by Brad Baker, was not injured in the incident.
