Canadian champion Too Late Now brought $50,000 to top the Fasig-Tipton Texas December mixed sale, which posted increases of 25.5% and 22.2% in its gross revenue and average price, respectively, from a year ago. But the auction’s median price fell 24% at Lone Star Park Dec. 13 and its buy-back rate increased to 33.9% from 25.3% in 2009.

Jim Stone purchased Too Late Now, who captured the Selene Stakes (Can-I) and the Labatt Woodbine Oaks in 2003, when she was Canada’s champion 3-year-old filly. A 10-year-old daughter of Raj Waki and the unraced Ten Gold Pots mare Half of Everything, Too Late Now won four of her seven career races while earning $566,100.

Inside Move, agent, consigned Too Late Now, who was not pregnant at the time she was sold. She has produced the winners A Little too Late (by Bold Executive) and Kinnaird (by Milwaukee Brew  ). In 2008, Coteau Grove Farms purchased Too Late Now for $75,000 from Adena Springs, agent, at the Keeneland November breeding stock sale while she was in foal to Ghostzapper  .

The results of the Fasig-Tipton Texas December mixed sale included a gross of $307,900 for the 76 horses that were sold. The average was $4,051 and the median was $1,900.

During the 2009 edition of the auction, the 74 horses that were sold grossed $245,300 and averaged $3,315. The median was $2,500.
