On the firm turf, Chorwon raced towards the rear of the field as The Knight Sky set a slow pace to lead Kim Loves Bucky by 1 1/2 lengths after a half-mile run in :49.17. Kim Loves Bucky moved within a half-length of the lead after six furlongs run in 1:17.85 and a mile in 1:39.95. At that point Chorwon had moved up to fourth, about 1 1/2 lengths off the lead. From there the gray son of Cozzene took control under jockey Jon Kenton Court, completing the distance in 2:28.68, five lengths ahead of The Knight Sky. Man From Wicklow finished third, a neck ahead of Kim Loves Bucky, with Gritty Sandie a nose farther back in fifth. Three Wonders and Profit Option completed the order of finish.

The win improved Chorwon's career mark to his 13 wins from 40 career starts and the $186,000 winner's share of the purse increased his career bankroll over the $1-million mark. He is trained by Hal Wiggins and was bred in Kentucky by Thomas C. Mueller.
