More than 150 seasons to stallions standing in 23 states will be offered during the Iowa Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association’s annual online stallion season auction from Dec. 4-11.
According to a release, the ITBOA offers up to a $20,000 bonus to the stallion owner and a $10,000 bonus to the breeder of the foal that wins the ITBOA Stallion Futurity and ITBOA Stallion Stakes.
Hurstland Farm near Midway, Ky. was the first recipient of the stallion incentive bonus after donating a season to Bright Launch. Launch Light Lady, a daughter of Bright Launch, won the 2010 ITBOA Stallion Futurity.
All proceeds from the stallion season auction are earmarked for the ITBOA Stallion Futurity an ITBOA Stallion Stakes. Each 2010 race had a total purse of nearly $93,000.
