Closing Argument , a top 10 leading second-crop sire by progeny earnings this year, will stand in 2011 for $5,000 at Ro Parra’s Millennium Farms near Lexington. Closing Argument (Successful Appeal --Mrs. Greeley, by Mr. Greeley) formerly stood at John Sikura’s Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms near Lexington, where his 2010 fee was $5,000.
“We have added Closing Argument at a fair price and lowered stud fees for the rest of our roster to reflect the challenges in the current marketplace,” Parra said. “As breeders ourselves, we understand the difficult economic conditions facing the horse industry, and we look forward to working with breeders during the 2011 breeding season.”
Millennium has reduced the fee for Even the Score to $10,000 from $15,000. Other stallions whose fees were reduced are Student Council and Zanjero , to $7,500 from $10,000 each; and Will He Shine, to $2,500 from $5,000.
Fees for all the stallions are stands and nurses.
