Bernstein, who is represented as a stallion by 19 stakes winners this year, will stand in 2011 for $20,000 at Shane Ryan’s Castleton Lyons near Lexington. His 2010 fee was $25,000.
The farm also announced it will stand Modigliani for $5,000, the same as in 2010.
“We have reduced Bernstein’s stud fee by 20% to $20,000, which should prove attractive for a stallion that has sired 14 grade I winners on all surfaces--dirt, synthetic and turf,” said commercial manager Stuart Fitzgibbon.
“The quality of Bernstein’s mare book has increased greatly over the last few seasons, including those from many of the leading breeding operations in the world." Fitzgibbon added. "And together with many promising young homebreds from Castleton Lyons we look forward to their foals hitting the track in the near future.”
