Global Hunter, a grade I winner in California and a group II winner in his native Argentina, will stand in 2011 at Rich and Gaby Sulpizio's Magali Farms near Santa Ynez, Calif. His fee is $2,500 live foal.
Global Hunter, who underwent surgery after suffering a leg injury after winning the American Handicap (gr. IIT) at Hollywood Park in July, won or placed in 19 of 30 races and earned $611,365. His biggest score came in the 2009 Eddie Read Stakes (gr. IT) over Awesome Gem at Del Mar.
Global Hunter has recovered nicely from his operation at the Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center near Los Olivos, Calif. “He’s doing well and looks great,” said Magali manager Tom Hudson.
Foaled in 2003, Global Hunter is by Jade Hunter and is one of nine South American group winners descending from his dam, Griffe de Paris (by Telescopico). Plans call for Global Hunter to stand the 2011 Southern Hemisphere season in Argentina.
