Christophe Soumillon, a three-time French champion jockey, has signed on as the No. 1 rider for the Wildenstein family.

“He told me he will be extremely proud to wear the Wildenstein silks next season,” Guy Wildenstein told the Racing Post. “It is for the duration of two years, and Christophe’s first mount for us will be on Planteur in the Hong Kong Cup (HK-I, Dec. 12).”

Planteur won the Prix Noailles (Fr-II) in April for Ecurie Wildenstein and has placed in several stakes..

Soumillon, 29, is best known in North America for winning the 2005 Breeders’ Cup Turf (gr. IT) on German-bred Shirocco. He also captured this year’s E.P. Taylor Stakes Presented by Fly Emirates (Can-IT) aboard Reggane.
