Tapit , who stands at the Beck family’s Gainesway Farm near Lexington, has enjoyed such a successful season that his fee has been upped to $80,000 from $50,000. The 9-year-old stallion (Pulpit —Tap Your Heels, by Unbridled) ranks fourth on this year’s third-crop sires’ list by progeny earnings. Two years earlier, he topped the first-crop list.
Tapit isn’t the sole Gainesway stallion whose fee has been raised. Afleet Alex , sire of Gainesway incoming stallion Afleet Express , will stand for $25,000, up from $15,000 in 2010. Afleet Express will stand for $10,000.
Gainesway has reduced the fees for Birdstone ($20,000 from $30,000), Corinthian ($25,000 from $30,000), Mr. Greeley ($40,000 from $50,000), Orientate ($7,500 from $10,000), Smoke Glacken ($10,000 from $12,500), and Whywhywhy ($5,000 to $3,500).
All fees are live foal stands and nurses.
