Julie Koenig Loignon is returning as vice president of corporate communications for Churchill Downs Inc.
The company announced Nov. 11 that Koenig Loignon will return to the position Nov. 15 after a two-year absence. During that time she served as vice president of brand development and marketing.
“Over the last few years, we have evolved into a diversified, growth-oriented company,” CDI president and chief executive officer Robert Evans said. “We have a more complex story to tell to a broader audience, and we welcome the experience and insight Julie brings to this important role on our corporate leadership team.”
Koenig Loignon, who joined CDI as communications coordinator in 1999, will coordinate and manage strategic, financial, and crisis communications; investor outreach; media relations; and employee communications while providing communications counsel and public relations support for the company’s horse racing, online wagering, and gaming businesses.
Communications and media services for Churchill Downs racetrack, where CDI’s corporate offices are located, will continue to be managed by vice president of racing communications John Asher and senior director of communications and media services Darren Rogers.
Liz Harris, who held the corporate communications post, was named vice president and executive director of the Churchill Downs Inc. Foundation effective Oct. 25. She joined the company in August 2009.
Koenig Loignon was first named vice president of corporate communications in 2006.
