Baroness Thatcher Sells for $625,000

Two years after bringing $1.8 million, the 6-year-old went through the Keeneland sales ring again Nov. 9, bringing a high bid of $625,000 from Katsumi Yoshida.

The price paid for the daughter of Johannesburg was the highest during the first 3 ½ hours of the second session of the Keeneland November breeding stock sale in Lexington.

Baroness Thatcher was consigned by Eaton Sales, which had also sent her through the ring in November 2008 on behalf of Zayat Stables, with Patrick Biancone Racing buying her for $1.8 million.

Baroness Thatcher won the grade III Santa Ysabel, and placed second or third in four grade I stakes, three grade II races, and one grade III.

She was sold Nov. 9 in foal to leading sire Tiznow  .
