Malibu Moon  , third on this year’s leading sires’ list by progeny earnings, will stand in 2011 for $60,000, up from his 2010 fee of $40,000. He stands at B. Wayne Hughes’ Spendthrift Farm near Lexington.

“Malibu Moon has proved himself to be a top sire with each year being better than the one before,” Hughes said. “We thought he earned a bump this year and wanted to put him at a price that breeders would feel is still good value.”

Thirteen-year-old Malibu Moon (A.P. Indy—Macoumba, by Mr. Prospector) is represented by the 2010 earners of more than $7.8 million. This year’s runners include grade I winners Devil May Care, Life At Ten, and Malibu Prayer. Yearlings by him this year have sold for $700,000, $650,000, and $500,000.
