The weather forecast for Friday, Nov. 5, first day of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships, got a bit more interesting with predictions of rain and snow showers from late in the evening of Nov. 4 through noon the following day.
Weather.com is calling for a high temperature of 48 degrees for the Friday program; it will be in the upper 30s through noon. Breeders’ Cup could benefit from having a first post time of 2 p.m. EDT at Churchill Downs, because skies are expected to clear and the temperature to remain steady through early evening.
The chance of precipitation is 30%, according to weather.com. The forecast for Saturday, Nov. 6 calls for sunshine and a high temperature of 52 degrees.
Moisture has been scarce in the Louisville, Ky., area for some time, and the connections of some Breeders’ Cup runners would like nothing more than some rainfall on the firm turf course. European connections of a couple of the favorites--Midday and Workforce--have said they haven’t decided yet if their horses will compete Nov. 5-6.
