Peter Kerwin and trainer Eddie Kenneally’s 33-1 longshot Mimi's Bling overhauled pacesetting Canadian Ballet in deep stretch to win the $100,000 Buffalo Trace Franklin County Stakes (VIDEO) for fillies and mares by a half-length Oct. 15 at Keeneland.

The victory in the 5 1/2-furling race under jockey Julien Leparoux came in 1:03.48 in Mimi’s Bling’s first added-money start. Odds-on choice West Ocean finished 1 1/4 lengths behind Canadian Ballet in third.

Mimi’s Bling won at Kentucky Downs in her last start. All three of her wins have come on grass and she upped her career earnings to $115,494,

David E. Hager II, who is the breeder of Mimi’s Bling, consigned the daughter of Bernstein to the 2008 Keeneland September yearling sale in the name of his Idle Hour Farm, agent. Mimi’s Bling was bought for $8,000 by Tim McCanna.

A Kentucky-bred, Mimi’s Bling is out of the stakes-placed Meadowlake mare Meadows Oaks, dam also of earlier graded stakes-winning sprinter Custom for Carlos  .
