Discreetly Mine Injured; Out of Breeders' Cup

Discreetly Mine  , winner of the Aug. 28 King’s Bishop Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga, is no longer being pointed toward the Nov. 6 Sentient Jet Breeders’ Cup Sprint (gr. I) at Churchill Downs due to an injury to his left stifle, trainer Todd Pletcher told the Daily Racing Form.

Pletcher said Discreetly Mine’s issue took several days to evaluate, but he received the details of the nature of the injury from Dr. Larry Bramlage Oct. 6.

"It's nothing too serious, but he'll have to be given 60 days off, which naturally eliminates the Sprint from consideration," Pletcher told DRF. "If all goes well we hope to have him back in training again this winter at Palm Meadows. This is terribly disappointing to us because obviously this horse found his niche sprinting during the second half of the season."

Discreetly Mine scored additional victories in this year’s Risen Star (gr. II), Amsterdam (gr. II), and Jersey Shore Stakes (gr. III). He was expected to be one of the favorites for the BC Sprint.

Owned and bred by E. Paul Robsham Stables, the Kentucky-bred son of  Mineshaft   has an overall record of 5-4-0 from 13 starts and earnings of $799,350.
