Southwestern Heat, a 6-year-old son of Gone West produced from the champion mare Xtra Heat, will enter stud in 2011 at Fred and Linda Alexander’s A&A Ranch in Anthony, New Mexico. The fee will be announced later.

Bred in Kentucky by ClassicStar, Southwestern Heat was the first foal out of grade I winner Xtra Heat, who won 26 of 34 career starts and was voted champion 3-year-old filly of 2001.

Southwestern Heat won four of 17 starts, including the Sonny Hine Stakes at Laurel Park, and earned $155,340. He also placed nine times, including second-place efforts in the Hirsch Jacobs (gr. III) and Oh Say Stakes, and third-place finishes in the Rumson and Anderson Fowler Stakes.
