Rausing, Frisby Buy British Bloodstock Agency

Kirsten Rausing and Richard Frisby have purchased The British Bloodstock Agency Ltd. The BBA, which was founded in 1911, rose to prominence as the world’s leading bloodstock agency.

“It has been our intention for sometime to secure The BBA, which for the last 99 years has served the bloodstock industry so well,” Rausing and Frisby said in a release. “After a patient waiting game, we are delighted to have purchased the BBA, and we are pleased to announce that Guy Heald and Michael Goodbody will join the company.

"We would like to emphasise that it is not our intention to rekindle the BBA as an agency with all its former ancillary services. Our first aim is to establish a significant bloodstock investment fund which will trade principally in breeding stock. The fund, BBA 2010, would be formed as an enterprise investment scheme.”

Rausing, owner of Lanwades Stud near Newmarket, England, and Frisby approach Arc weekend with a considerable degree of satisfaction having jointly been responsible for breeding Fame And Glory, winner of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby (Ire-I) and other group I stakes and a leading contender for the Oct. 3 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (Fr-I).
