Tiznow's pedigree is one of those great stories where unheralded bloodlines come together in ways that no one could predict. By California stallion Cee's Tizzy, out of the Seattle Song mare Cee's Song, Tiznow, not only attained incredible heights, but came on the heels of his full brother Budroyale, who had finished second in the Breeders' Cup Classic the year before Tiznow won it. Not bad for a Cal-bred mare who won one race in 18 starts during her racing career. Breeder Cecilia Straub-Rubens, who passed away only days after Tiznow's victory in the Breeders' Cup Classic, had purchased Cee's Song for $50,000 through Curragh Bloodstock Agency.
But if you look a few generations in, you'll find some outstanding names in Tiznow's pedigree, such as Relaunch, In Reality, Lyphard, Intentionally, Northern Dancer, and the great racemare Tizna on the sire side. On the dam side, there is Seattle Slew, sire of Seattle Song, and Northern Dancer again, making Tiznow inbred 4x4 to Northern Dancer.
Tiznow certainly has the pedigree to handle 1 1/4 miles, with a dosage index of 1.86. Two of his biggest wins have come in the Breeders' Cup Classic and Super Derby, both at 10 furlongs. Cee's Tizzy also finished third in the Super Derby.
