Churchill Downs Inc. president and chief executive officer Robert Evans will give the keynote address at the 2010 University of Arizona Symposium on Racing & Gaming.

Evans, in previous positions, was co-founder and managing director of the private equity firm Symphony Technology Group; president and chief operating officer of the enterprise software firm Aspect Development Inc.; managing partner of the Americas Supply Chain Practice for Accenture Ltd.; vice president of customer support for Mazda Motor of America Inc.; and co-founder and president of the outsourcing services subsidiary Caterpillar Logistics Services Inc.

“We’re pleased to get the Symposium on Racing and Gaming off to such a dynamic start by offering the attendees Evans’ insight on racing,” Doug Reed, Director of the university’s Race Track Industry Program, said in a statement.

The symposium, to be held Dec. 6-9, this year becomes the permanent home for a number of industry events including the National Thoroughbred Racing Association’s annual meeting and marketing summit, and the Harness Tracks of America annual meeting.

Additional meetings and events scheduled during the 2010 symposium include the International Tote Protocol Group, Turf Publicists of America’s presentation of the Mark Kaufman Workshop, the Big Sport of Turfdom Award luncheon sponsored by Turf Publicists of America, the Jockeys’ Guild annual assembly; and the Association of Racing Commissioners International board of directors and model rules meetings.
