Trainer Todd Pletcher worked several of his Breeders’ Cup World Thoroughbred Championship contenders Sept. 25 including Devil May Care and Life At Ten.
The two daughters of Malibu Moon worked five furlongs in tandem at Belmont Park in 1:00.05, which was the day’s second-fastest time at the distance. The pair galloped out six furlongs in 1:12.17.
Pletcher told the Daily Racing Form he has not decided where either horse will start prior to the Breeders’ Cup, which wil be held Nov. 5-6 at Churchill Downs.
Life At Ten, out of Rahrahsixboombah, by Rahy, may start in the grade I $350,000 Beldame Stakes at Belmont Oct. 2. The 5-year-old mare owned by Candy DeBartolo has won three graded stakes this year including the Ogden Phipps Handicap (gr. I) and the Delware Handicap (gr. II).
Devil May Care, a 3-year-old out of Kelli's Ransom, by Red Ransom, may also start in the 1 1/8-mile Beldame but is also a possible starter Oct. 2 in the $750,000 Cotillion Stakes at Parx Racing . The grade II Cotillion is run at 1 1/16 miles. Devil May Care, owned by Glencrest Farm, has won three grade I stakes this year—the Frizette, Mother Goose, and the BetFair TVG Coaching Club American Oaks.
