The Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games has come to the United States, with all the action starting Sept. 25 and running through Oct. 10 at the Kentucky Horse Park outside Lexington. You can get daily behind-the-scenes looks at this important international competition at TheHorse.com through news reports, blogs, videos, slideshows and more.
Award-winning writer Jennifer Bryant will begin posting daily on her “Countdown to WEG” blog, which she began with weekly posts more than a year ago. Other bloggers include veterinarians, top photographers, support crew for horse/rider teams, and others who will be posting to the “Behind the Scenes” blog throughout the Games.
A library of videos about health issues related to the eight equestrian disciplines being showcased at the WEG have been posted weekly since mid-July.
Slideshows featuring albums of outstanding photos, both behind the scenes and from competition, by award-winning photographers will be posted throughout the Games.
TheHorse.com editorial team also will be tweeting live from certain events through @TheHorse, @StephLChurch, @MLArszman, and @JenniferOBryant
The Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games are the world championships of eight equestrian disciplines recognized by the Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI). The Games are held every four years and this will be the first occurrence in the United States. The Kentucky Horse Park will host 800 athletes from 58 countries during the Games. With those athletes are 800-plus horses, some of whom have traveled thousands of miles competing in championships around the world.
