Thoroughbred Charities of America announced it will be donating $50,000 to the National Thoroughbred Association's "NTRA Charities -- New York Heroes Fund." The fund was established to benefit the families of the fire fighters, police officers, emergency services personnel and others who died in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centers on Sept. 11.
"Our hearts go out to all the victims, their families and all the brave people who worked so hard," said TCA president Herb Moelis. "This is a national tragedy that affects us all and it is going to take the efforts of us all to rebuild and protect our freedom. The Thoroughbred industry must step up to help."
TCA's primary source of funding is its annual benefit auction of stallion seasons and sporting art, this year scheduled for December 1. The policy of the TCA is to allow season donors to designate the beneficiary of the proceeds from the sale of those seasons. Anyone wishing to include a season in this year's auction may earmark the proceeds for the New York Heroes
Fund, or a Thoroughbred charity of their choice.
