Hip 169 A.P.Indy-Madcap Escapade sold for $900,000 at the Keeneland Yearling Sales.

A daughter of A.P. Indy out of millionaire Madcap Escapade was bought for $900,000 by breeder Bruce Lunsford from Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales Agency, agent, at the Sept. 13 select session of the Keeneland September yearling sale.

Lunsford, who co-bred the filly in Kentucky, was buying out the 50% share owned by the filly’s other co-breeder, John Sikura’s Hill ‘n’ Dale Equine Holdings.

“This filly is close to my heart, you know?” said Lunsford of the filly, who is a half sister to grade I winner Mi Sueno. “I made a decision that I want to keep a filly out of this family; there aren’t very many A.P. Indys being made.

“I know the family, I know the horse, and I knew there were other people interested in her, but I told John at this particular stage, they’re not going to be making many more of them (A.P. Indy fillies), and I’ve always kind of wanted to have a nice A.P. Indy in my broodmare band. I can’t think of a better mare—she’s pretty special.”
