Trainer Bob Baffert went to $950,000 for a colt by Giant's Causeway out of Spunoutacontrol, by Wild Again. He purchased the colt for owner Kaleem Shah, who The colt is the second-highest price of the opening select session for the Keeneland September Yearling sale Sept. 12.
Lane's End Farm sold the colt as agent. The yearling was bred in Kentucky by Colts Neck Stables.
“I liked the way he carried himself,” Baffert said. “He was very balanced. I really thought we were getting that horse earlier.”
“That horse” was the session-topper, a $4.2 million son of A.P. Indy out of Balance that sold to Ben Leon’s Besilu Stables. “I thought we would get him for $2 million,” Baffer said.
Shah is the owner of Concord Point, winner of Iowa Derby (gr. II) and West Virginia Derby (gr. III).
