Dar Re Mi, a 2009 English champion and a group I winner in Dubai this year, has been retired from racing because of minor problems, according to the Daily Mail. The 5-year-old mare will became a broodmare for Lloyd Webber’s Watership Down Stud in England.

A homebred for Webber and one of six stakes winners from her dam, Dar Re Mi (Singspiel—Darara, by Top Ville) was England’s highweighted older mare at 11 to 14 furlongs last year when she won the Darley Yorkshire Oaks (Eng-I). She also captured last year’s Audi Pretty Polly (Ire-I). In North America in 2009, she ran third in the Emirates Airline Breeders’ Cup Turf (gr. IT).

Dar Re Mi also was a group I winner in 2010, capturing the Dubai Sheema Classic Sponsored by Guangsha Group (UAE-I). She retired with wins or placings in 14 of 17 races and earnings of $4,359,112.
