Jockey Rafael Bejarano was released from Scripps-La Jolla Hospital after suffering only bumps and bruises when he was dislodged from his mount early in the third race at Del Mar Aug. 29.

Bejarano is expected ride when racing resumes at Del Mar Sept. 1, according to the track. He gave up his remaining mounts on the Sunday card after being transported to the hospital for tests.

The 28-year-old Peruvian rider, second by one win to Joel Rosario in the Del Mar jockey standings at the start of the day, was unseated when Wallstreeter, a 2-year-old filly, clipped heels in close quarters on the backstretch during a six-furlong maiden special weight event.

Bejarano appeared to have been struck by another filly, Include Me Out, while he was on the ground. Wallstreeter continued on and finished the race.
