Blanton Leaving Keeneland for University

Jay Blanton, director of marketing and communications for Keeneland, will leave in mid-September to take a job in public relations at the University of Kentucky, where he has worked before.

Blanton has held the Keeneland post less than a year. He replaced Jim Williams, who retired last late year.

Before taking the Keeneland job, Blanton handled communications for Democratic Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear.

Keeneland's staff was informed of the move Aug. 26. Vince Gabbert, who also worked for the Beshear administration and last year was hired by Keeneland president Nick Nicholson to serve as his assistant, will take over Blanton’s responsibilities.
